How to Use HD Research Hub

Whether you're a patient, family member, researcher, or just curious. here's how to get the most from this site.

people Who is this for?

Patients + Families

Understand what treatments are in the pipeline, what's recruiting, and where to find support. We link to trusted organizations like HDSA and HDBuzz for medical guidance.

Researchers

See what our AI agents are finding in the literature. Browse 46+ analyzed papers, check our drug repurposing hypotheses, and build on our open-source tools.

Data Scientists + Developers

Clone the repo, run the agents, contribute to the codebase. Everything is MIT-licensed and designed to run on consumer hardware.

Anyone Curious

Just want to learn about HD research? Start with the dashboard or ask our AI chatbot a question. No expertise required.

route Getting Started

1

Explore the Dashboard

The main page shows live data: recent papers from PubMed, active clinical trials, and community news from HDBuzz. Everything is pulled fresh daily from public sources.

2

Ask the AI Chatbot

Our AI assistant can answer questions about HD research. It's grounded in our corpus of analyzed papers. so it cites real sources, not hallucinations. Try: "What drugs might help with HD neuroinflammation?"

3

Read Experiment Reports

We publish our AI experiments openly. Experiment #1 analyzed 22 papers and generated drug repurposing hypotheses. We show what worked, what didn't, and why. no hype.

4

Browse Research Ideas

Our AI identified existing FDA-approved drugs that might have activity against HD targets. These are hypotheses. not medical recommendations. published openly so researchers can evaluate them.

5

Find Support + Get Involved

We link to trusted resources: HDSA for support, HDBuzz for news in plain language, HDYO for young people. You can also join clinical trials, contribute code, or donate.

6

Run It Yourself

Everything is open source. Clone the GitHub repo, install Python and Ollama, and run the research agents on your own machine. Zero cost.

git clone https://github.com/jravinder/hd-research-agent
cd hd-research-agent && pip install -r requirements.txt
python src/run_experiment.py

help Common Questions

Is this medical advice?

No. This is a research tool built by data scientists, not doctors. For medical guidance, contact HDSA or your healthcare provider. Our AI-generated hypotheses are exploratory ideas, not treatment recommendations.

Where does the data come from?

All data comes from public sources: PubMed (research papers), ClinicalTrials.gov (clinical trials), HDBuzz (community news), and Open Targets (gene-target associations). We pull fresh data daily. Every data point links back to its source.

What does the AI actually do?

Our AI agents read research paper abstracts and extract structured information: what molecular targets are mentioned, what drugs or compounds, what the key finding is. Then they look for patterns across papers and generate hypotheses about which existing drugs might be worth investigating for HD.

Can I trust the AI's drug repurposing ideas?

They're starting points for investigation, not conclusions. In our first experiment, the AI correctly identified some interesting hypotheses (Tocilizumab for neuroinflammation) but also suggested a drug that was already tested with modest results (Riluzole). We always disclose what worked and what didn't.

Do you collect my data?
